Happenings at Carousel Gardens

It was a cold Friday in January when the dishwasher, Harold, witnessed a strange happening. He was working upstairs; near the bar located in the Rose Room when he heard a cat’s meow. Harold looked immediately around the corner just to find two glowing white eyes, staring at him. Looking white as a ghost, he ran down the stairs to tell his co-workers. Everyone participated in a search for the cat but there was no trace of an animal anywhere in the Restaurant. It may have been the family cat that belonged to the Wooster family of long ago . . .

One night, Meredith was tending the bar downstairs. She was standing by the blender located at one side of the bar when she heard a glass fall by the beer cooler, at the other end of the bar. (Patrons dining in the Garden room located behind the bar also heard a glass fall to the floor.) The bar floor was tile so, if something fell it broke. She did not hear the glass shatter. Meredith searched for the glass but couldn’t find it. She asked a few employees to help and they continued to look for the glass. The glass was never found.

Carol, a guest visiting the Restaurant, was wearing a long fur coat. As she was walking through the restaurant near the bar area she felt a tug on the bottom of her coat. She turned instantly to find that her coat was not caught on anything and there was nobody else in the area.

One Sunday afternoon a reservation consisting of seven individuals arrived at Carousel Gardens Restaurant to dine. The table that was reserved for them was by the front door. As the waitress, Anne, escorted them to the table, a full glass of water flew across the table, hit the wall and shattered. There were eight chairs at the table. No one would sit in the seat where the place setting was. Anne left the place setting there by request of the guests because they decided to invite Ruth to join them for diner.

Experiencing the unexplained happenings is an adventure at Carousel Gardens. A waitress proceeded into the kitchen to ask a Chef a simple question. He answered her in a hostile tone of voice. With no movement in the kitchen anywhere, suddenly all of the spoons and ladles that were hanging above his head fell on him. She thanked Ruth and quickly left the kitchen.

The cook, Louis, was standing in front of the swinging door to the kitchen looking at his reflection in the glass when suddenly the door swung wide open…there was no one there. Could Ruth have been opening the door for him?
